Scidrones Presents CMLO at International Seminar on Marine Debris Circular Economy

Scidrones was pleased to present the Coastal Marine Litter Observatory (CMLO) during the open seminar “Sharing of Marine Debris Circular Economy Success Stories”, held on 18 December and addressed to students and early-career researchers.

The seminar focused on how drone-based coastal monitoring and AI-driven analytics can bridge the gap between academic research and real-world operational needs. Through the CMLO platform, Scidrones demonstrated how advanced geospatial technologies can be transformed into practical tools supporting coastal authorities, NGOs, and stakeholders across the blue economy, enabling evidence-based decision-making for marine litter monitoring and management.

We would like to sincerely thank Universiti Malaysia Terengganu and especially Associate Professor Lee Jennie for the kind invitation, excellent organization, and the engaging and constructive discussion that followed the presentation. The strong interest and insightful questions from participants highlighted the growing demand for scalable, technology-driven solutions addressing marine pollution challenges.

Scidrones would also like to acknowledge the SustainaBlue HEIs in Malaysia and Indonesia Project, whose objectives and vision strongly align with the circular economy approach to marine litter management emphasized throughout the seminar. Initiatives such as SustainaBlue play a key role in fostering collaboration between academia, innovation, and regional impact.

We thank all participants for their active engagement and thoughtful contributions, and we look forward to continuing the dialogue on how emerging technologies can support sustainable coastal and marine environments.
