Scidrones is among the 2025 GEO SDG Award Winners

Scidrones is thrilled to be among the 2025 GEO SDG Award Winners! 🌍✨ organized from Group on Earth Observations (GEO)

This recognition means the world to us—it highlights how a small, determined team with drones, AI, and a mission can help solve global challenges like marine plastic pollution.

Together with our amazing partners at International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), Ghana Statistical Service, Sustainable Development Solutions Network, and the University of the Aegean, we’ve shown that technology and citizen science can revolutionize how we monitor and report SDG 14.1.1b.

At Scidrones, we’re proud to lead the way in mapping plastic litter hotspots along Ghana’s coastline—fusing Earth observation, local knowledge, and actionable data to fill critical policy gaps. This award isn’t just a milestone—it’s motivation to keep pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. 🚀🌊

Huge shoutout to the brilliant champions of this work: Dilek Fraisl, Omar Seidu, Maryam Rabiee.
